Cocoa Tea

Cocoa Tea

Born 3rd September 1959 in Kingston, Jamaica, Calvin George Scott began singing in church and school choirs. In 1974 his first recording entitled 'Searching In The Hill' was released with little success. Having worked as a race horse jockey and fisherman, the man named Cocoa Tea (after his love of the hot beverage) returned to the music scene in the mid eighties working on various sound systems and recording for Henry 'Junjo' Lawes, gaining notable success with the songs 'I Lost My Sonia' and 'Rocking Dolly'.

In 1989 at King Jammys studio, he recorded the monster hit tune 'Who She Love' alongside singer Home T (Mikey Bennett of the Home T Four) and the hottest dancehall DJ of that time, Shabba Ranks. Cocoa Tea soon established himself to be one of reggae music's most loved artists with his smooth melodies, conscious lyrics and sugar sweet love songs - the name 'Sweet Sweet Cocoa Tea' well earned indeed. He continues to record on his own 'Roaring Lion' label and for many other producers including Digital Bobby.
